Business Lawn Maintenance Management
Whilst a green lawn may be viewed by some as the ideal lawn, the highest-quality lawns require a great deal of maintenance, usually including mowing every few days without damaging the surface. If high costs of the finest seed and feeding materials are included, it is clear that this is not what is usually required. With a little care and planning, plus knowledge of how to cope with the most common problems, most lawns can have less lofty objectives and be maintained relatively easily at low cost.
Saving Time and Cost
If the emphasis of the gardener in managing a lawn is on saving time as well as expense, then it is worth noting that in general, every feature that is added to a lawn will add to the time spent keeping both the lawn and the feature looking at their best.
The lawn can be kept looking tidy while saving further time when mowing by trimming the lawn edges. Laying a plank of wood on its face along the edge of the lawn, standing on it and using a half-moon edging tool or a flat spade along the side of the plank is a simple and relatively quick way to create a tidier lawn edge.
Lawn trimmers also help. An alternative is to install a more permanent form of edging. Bricks or stones can be used as a natural and attractive form of edging. Keeping a mowing edge where a lawn meets a wall makes it much easier to trim the edge and keep the area tidy. Tying border plants back to garden canes helps prevent them flopping onto the lawn, which when left untended will then kill the grass at the edges.
